Who would have thought to isolate yourself is mentally challenging. Maybe because I am an extrovert, or perhaps I hate the idea of staying in one place. I am lucky enough to have housemates that I can interact with, and I do have a reasonable amount of space to move and to get fresh air, but why do I still feel lethargic?
Working out every day is something that I used to do before the pandemic COVID-19, which leads to shelter in place. I find it hard to maintain my original routine, and I barely feel like doing any fitness exercises. Again, I am not sure what are the reasons behind this change in behavior, but one thing for sure it is not a positive impact. At best, I will squeeze in 100 push-ups and call it a day.
Friends and I figured out a way to have a little bit of fun while practicing social distance. We connected virtually using Zoom and played skribbl.io. It is not fancy, but the truth is it feeds our emotional and social needs. It is an outlet to have fun, connect with friends while playing a little bit of a game that challenges your mind. Given everything that is happening around us now, a little bit of joy that I can get during the day helps me to survive and persevere all the way. Since we are in the unknown territory, I don’t even know when I can take my first flight back to see my family.
So how do we survive social distancing?
Try new things – video conference, virtual lunch, virtual coffee chat
Have fun – talk about other movie reviews, cooking recipes, play skribbl
Make mistakes – binge shows till you regret the next day
Do it again till you find what works for you.
Stay safe and take care.
